From the Exec: DHL....Fail (again)

(Sighs)......two years ago, I was selected as a Windows 7 Launch Party host. I was excited at the time, but also was on the verge of a mental breakdown after my Nan died a few months earlier.

I was excited to be a party host, after all, I scored a Signature Edition of Windows 7 Ultimate plus a party pack! But it almost didn't happen due to DHL and it's regional contractor Hills ParcelDirect almost losing my package, not once, but twice.

And they almost didn't deliver on the week of the party, it took a least five or six phone calls, three or four emails, a complaint plus a few anxiety attacks at work to realise that the package needed to be delivered. I eventually got the package in time. Since then, I have a major grype with DHL. Fast forward two years later, has DHL changed?

Well I can say a big NO to that question. Why? Well DHL did the same thing again. I ordered some new zentai suits from Fets-Fash a few weeks ago for the upcoming series of Guide to Zentai. After paying a hefty sum for the suits (US$415 + €25 shipping), I recieved my tracking number for the package, but there was one problem.....DHL was going to deliver it. Here we go again.....

I immediately knew that this could be bad, or it could be worse, knowing from the last incident with them. Everything went well, tracking was constant and tracked right up to the departure point (IPZ-Ffm, DE). And the tracking stayed like that for a couple of days.

So I knew it was going to be a long wait, but not the expected 11 days DHL quoted in an email response that I sent to them. It's been 30 days since the package was sent and I still haven't recieved an update to the tracking status. To make matters worse, recently, DHL has been sending parcels via seamail instead of airmail, but packages which have been sent via seamail have the last known tracking of "Hamberg, DE" instead of "IPZ-Ffm, DE".

So again, DHL has failed to deliver, and I'm now thinking the package has been lost or stolen. (Sighs)......I understand that there are some postal delays at the moment due to security incidents and natural disasters, but 30 days to deliver a package is simply not good enough.

The team at Fets-Fash have been very helpful in chasing this issue up and providing the information translated and ready to read. I don't blame them for these delays, in fact, they do a great job and really know how to look after their customers, even during times like this.

So it looks like I'll be waiting a whole LOT longer if it's on a ship. And that screwed up my shooting schedule. But this incident with DHL won't stop me from buying my zentai suits from Germany with Fets-Fash and later in the year with Tightshop.de, I might also consider courier service next time, but not with DHL.

Simply put, DHL, you failed once, and you failed again. To quote from a fellow Whirlpool Forum user:

Update: Just got an email back from Fets-Fash and my gut feeling was right, the package is on a ship. (Sighs).......

I am just experiencing the same, ordered something from Germany which should have arrived after about 11 business days. A month later I found out DHL is sending it via sea mail - to Australia. I'm in for a 16 week wait.
